Carmine F. (Chick) Chickadel
Carmine
F. Chickadel was a huge hit in our first Teachers as Writers series
in 2007-2008! Chick has been an educator for over 35 years on
the East Coast and the Northwest. Serving in independent schools,
he has held the positions of department chair, dean, associate
head and co-director. Presently he is Associate Head of
the Upper Division of The Evergreen School in Shoreline, Washington.
He is also the co-founder with writer Frances McCue of The Hugo
Teaching Studios, a venue for writers to become reflective, adept
and creative teachers of writing. He has a BA from the University
of Delaware and his MA from the University of Montana College
of Fine Arts. He has done a post graduate NEH fellowship in modern
poetry at Bryn Mawr College. He is also the author of five
books of images and poems with artist Dennis Evans. Their latest
work is The Canticle of Hours. He has published in The
Paris Review, Prosodia, Philadelphia Poets
and other journals. In January, 2007, he co-founded Ravenna Solutions,
LLC which is an educational software company that specializes
in applications for narrative assessment of students.
