Session
1 ~ December 4, 2008
Writing and the Craft of Teaching
We will explore how your personal writing can support
your teaching. Journals, diaries, memoirs and true to
life narratives all hone our introspective skills. We
will practice the art of reflective writing and see how
practicing meta-cognitive skills will take us deeper into
the nature of teaching. Learn more

Session 2 ~ January 29, 2009
Writing about the Where
What are the linguistic and narrative elements that identify
and circumscribe place? We will linger in the spaces where
place is defined. We will think and write about our cultures,
clans, and communities. The notion of Where is powerful
and evocative and so should be the writing of it. We will
color in place and demarcate place with effective and
precise language.
Session 3 ~ March 19
Writing for Real
Find your voice, identify your writing process and publish
your manifesto!!! What does it take to say what you mean,
speak from your heart, and help your students do the same?
We will work on authentic voice and the teaching of writing
using poetry and personal narrative..
This
series of workshops is designed to build your expertise,
yet is flexible enough that you can attend any session
-- or all three!
One
Seattle University continuing education credit or 10 clock
hours available onsite to participants in all three sessions
for a nominal fee.
